I was doing a Big Sur Holy Weed tribute breeding project after I got back from Pakistan in 2023. A friend reached out to me telling me that he had a seed collection stored in his freezer since 2005. A grower named Eric Costello was working with the monks in Big Sur had passed away in a tragic skateboarding accident. His wife gifted my friend’s brother the seed collection. There were 87 seeds in the container. I germinated all of them and got 75 to grow up. I culled almost half due to intersex traits, but the ones that were stable were stunning. Like traveling back to the monk time. Incredible hybrids from decades of collection. A Skunk #1 morphology but intense fruit and floral aromas.

I selected 3 males and 2 standout females. Female #2 was juicy fruit bubblegum in aroma and flavor. Heavy resin and solid density. Female #11 was like holiday eggnog in the mouth but with a bite in the back of the mouth. Rich fruit aromas and visually stunning. Male #3 had heavy floral clusters with a musky rank aroma, good resin formation. Male #4 was heavy tropical fruit aroma and beautiful pine. Good floral formation and resin. Male #9 was complicated. A killer mix of spice, tropical fruit, and rank funk.
